April 10, 1972 - Charlie Chaplin wins an Oscar

Teaming with Douglas Fairbanks, D.W. Griffith, and Mary Pickford to form United Artists suited Charlie Chaplin. The company's profits(利润)did not bother him, even though Chaplin was a Socialist. But Hollywood did not always suit Charlie Chaplin and neither did America. When refused re-entry to the states by immigration authorities, Chaplin retorted(反击), I wouldn't go back there if Jesus Christ were President. But on April 10, 1972, he did go back to receive a Special Oscar for his incalculable(无穷的) effect he had on making motion pictures, the art form of this century. Beautiful people, he said upon receiving his award, this is my renaissance(新生). 3 years later, the Little Tramp returned to his native England to be knighted(授以爵位)by the queen as Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin.
