The Missionaries of Charity were founded by Mother Theresa, a Roman Catholic nun claimed,  "the sick and the dying have been made to forget that they are human beings".  After seeing a penniless woman turned away by a Calcutta hospital, she left her convent to establish a home for the dying in Calcutta in 1948.  "It is the hungry Christ we are feeding", she had said. "The naked Christ, we are clothing. The homeless Christ, we shelter".
